Nikola Jokic Sets Record in Denver Nuggets Win Over Minnesota Timberwolves

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic passed a startling milestone in his team's 122-118 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. With his 13 assists in 31 minutes, Jokic became the franchise's all-time leader in assists with 3686.

Jokic passed Nuggets small forward Alex English, an eight-time All Star and Hall of Famer who compiled 3679 assists for the team from 1980 to 1990. Setting an assists record this early into his career speaks to Jokic's unique skillset as a big man. He also added 31 points and 11 rebounds on the night, notching his 14th triple-double of the season.

The win pushed the Nuggets to 32-13, good for first place in the Western Conference. The two-time MVP is in the middle of perhaps his most dominant, versatile season yet. With his 25.1 points per game, 11.0 rebounds per game, and 9.9 assists per game, he's within a hair of averaging a triple-double on the season while maintaining an incredibly efficient .626 field-goal percentage. Whether or not he wins, Jokic's has put together yet another MVP-worthy campaign.
