Brooklyn Nets' Cam Thomas Goes Off in Loss to Los Angeles Clippers
For the second game in a row, Cam Thomas showed that the Brooklyn Nets could be just fine without Kyrie Irving. The 21-year-old dropped a career-high 47 points with four rebounds and three assists in a 124-116 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Thomas hit 15 of his 29 field goal attempts, including seven of 11 from three. It was his second consecutive 40+ point effort since Kyrie Irving's falling out with the Nets and his first start this season. If Thomas' first two games in the post-Irving era are any indication, the Nets may have a new star on their hands.
Last night's loss dropped the Nets to 32-21 and fifth in the Eastern Conference standings, but they still have plenty of reasons for optimism for the remainder of the season. They've yet to see much from the pieces they acquired by trading Irving, and Kevin Durant should make his long-awaited return sometime soon. Assuming he isn't traded before the deadline, of course.
The Nets will face the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.
