Chicago Bulls' DeMar DeRozan to Miss Thursday's Game Against Milwaukee Bucks

The Chicago Bulls will be without their leading scorer for their Thursday night showdown with their Central Division rivals. The team officially declared DeMar DeRozan out on the NBA Injury Report for tonight's matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks.

DeRozan will miss his second straight game with a right quadriceps strain. He has been a workhorse for the Bulls so far this season, starting 53 of a possible 59 games while averaging a team-high 25.4 points per game with a respectable .595 true shooting percentage.

After finishing the 2021-22 season 46-36 in DeRozan's first year with the team, the Bulls find themselves a disappointing 26-32 and 11th in the Eastern Conference. Even if they make the play-in tournament, they have few reasons for optimism this postseason or for any postseason in the foreseeable future, for that matter. DeRozan will turn 34 later this year, and the Bulls are lacking in promising young players. They could be approaching an extended rebuild.

DeRozan's next chance to return will be on Friday night against the Brooklyn Nets.
