Dallas Mavericks to Be Without Luka Doncic for Wednesday's Game Against Los Angeles Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks will have to wait for at least one more game before seeing their freshly minted superstar duo in action. Speaking with media on Monday, coach Jaso Kidd revealed Luka Doncic will miss Wednesday's matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers due to his right heel contusion. Wednesday will mark Doncic's third consecutive missed game and his fourth in six games. He will miss the debuts of former Brooklyn Nets Kyrie Irving and Markieff Morris, who the Mavericks recently acquired in a blockbuster trade.

Doncic is the Mavericks' leader in every sense of the word; he ranks first on the team in points per game (33.4), rebounds per game (8.9), and assists per game (8.2). The four-time All Star has missed eight games this season, and the Mavericks have lost seven. The success of the Mavs season will depend entirely on his healthy return and whether or not he can gel with the famously mercurial Irving, who averaged 27.1 points per game with a solid .604 true shooting percentage over 40 appearances with the Nets this season.

The Mavericks' next chance to debut the Doncic and Irving pairing will be Friday night against the Sacramento Kings.
