Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic Dominates in Overtime Win Over Los Angeles Clippers

Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic continued his march toward a third-straight MVP on Sunday night, leading his team to a 134-124 overtime win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The NBA's triple-double king compiled 40 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals in 42 minutes.

It was Jokic's 23rd triple-double of the season and his fourth with 40 or more points. He hit 14 of his 21 field goal attempts and scored six of the Nuggets' 14 points in their dominant overtime period. For the season, Jokic is averaging 24.8 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 10.0 assists with an NBA-best .704 true shooting percentage. He remains the sport's advanced stats king, leading all players in player efficiency rating (32.1), win share per 48 (.321), and box plus/minus (13.4).

The win lifted the Nuggets to 43-19 and extended their lead in the Western Conference to an eye-popping 5.5 games. They've been one of the truly dominant teams in the NBA, but they'll have to fend off a few sleeping giants constructed at the trade deadline to make the Finals. The Phoenix Suns have yet to debut Kevin Durant, and the Dallas Mavericks are still working out the kinks in their new superstar pairing of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.

The Nuggets have a date with the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night.
