Detroit Pistons Sign Free Agent Guard

The Detroit Pistons have added to their guard depth, signing a 6'6" undrafted free agent that they've kept close tabs on since the summer.

It's a 10-day contract for the 23-year-old rookie out of Arkansas.

He played with the Pistons during the Summer League last July, and from there joined the Pistons with an Exhibit 10 training camp contract. He didn't make the team, but went on to join Detroit's G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise.

Umude has been averaging 15.3 points and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 42% from the field and 35% from long-distance in 18 Showcase Cup games with the Cruise.

A spot opened up on the Pistons' roster after their moves on deadline day, in which they sent out Saddiq Bey and Kevin Knox in a deal for James Wiseman.

Umude will earn $58,493 on his 10-day deal.
