Free Agent 7-Time All-Star To Work Out For Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks apparently haven't finished putting together their roster for the stretch drive. On Tuesday, they'll be working out a 7-time NBA All-Star and a Dallas native to boot, LaMarcus Aldridge.

A 16-year veteran of the NBA wars, Aldridge has played close to home in his career, with the San Antonio Spurs for six seasons. But now, a chance to really go home would be enticing for the 37-year-old. He owns career marks of 19.1 points and 8.1 rebounds.

Aldridge last played for the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 12.9 points per game & 5.5 rebounds in 22.3 minutes. But he was only healthy enough to play in 47 games; he won't have to play anywhere near that many regular season games this year, and should have plenty in the tank for the playoffs.

According to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Aldridge has been staying in shape and preparing to play down the stretch for a contender. The call from his hometown Mavericks certainly has his attention.

If the workout goes as planned on Tuesday, it's expected the Mavs would offer him a contract. He'd have to be on the roster by March 1st to be eligible for the playoffs.
