Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson to Sit for Thursday's Game Against Denver Nuggets

The Golden State Warriors will be short a splash brother for their massive Thursday night showdown with the Denver Nuggets. The team officially declared Klay Thompson out for tonight due to right Achilles tendon injury management.

The team also listed Stephen Curry and Draymond Green as questionable. All three played extensively in last night's overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Thompson has typically missed at least one game of a back-to-back all season, and Curry and Green haven't been above taking the occasional rest, either.

Thompson remains a major asset for the Warriors. Despite tonight's absence, he has finally re-established himself as a reliable and consistent presence for the team: after playing in only 32 total games over his previous three seasons, he has started 40 games in the 2022-23 season.

The Warriors are 26-25 this season and seventh in the Western Conference. The core that won the NBA title last season remains intact, but they'll have to at least pull themselves out of the play-in tournament if they want to truly contend this postseason. They can't afford to concede too many more games in the name of injury management.
