Knicks Rumors: OG Anunoby Has "Big Fans" Within Knicks Organization

The OG Anunoby conversations are still percolating around the NBA, and in New York specifically. According to Knicks Insider Ian Begley of SNY, there are "big fans" of OG within the Knicks' ranks.

I don't think anything is dead in terms of the Knicks & Anunoby... I know he's got big fans within the Knick organization. I think a lot of people over there like the way he would fit with this group... 

The Knicks are gonna remain interested, it's gonna depend on price &…how much assurance they can get about him re-signing here.

Anunoby is signed through next season at least, at $18.6M, but then has a player option for the 2024-25 season at $20M. The way the market has shaped up, he'd be underpaid at that price and likely would decide to hit the free agent market. 

And the price to obtain him in a trade at this deadline has remained very significant, although the Knicks have been rumored to be the team that offered three first-round picks for the top 3-and-D wing. 

Anunoby was in the discussion for Defensive Player of the Year earlier this season, as he currently leads the league in deflections at 3.9 per game, and is tied at the top with 2.1 steals per contest. He's also averaging 16.9 points and 5.5 rebounds.
