LeBron James Could Miss Extended Period of Time

The Los Angeles Lakers playoff hopes may be in peril. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, there is a possibility that LeBron James could miss an extended period of time.

James sustained a right foot injury during the Lakers' 111-108 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

The Lakers superstar was seen saying "I heard a pop" after suffering the injury, but he did return and finish the game to help his squad secure the win. James was also seen limping after the game.

This is brutal news for Los Angeles if the 38-year-old does indeed miss significant time.

The Lakers have slowly built momentum since the trade deadline, where they made several moves to improve their roster. They have won four of their last five and are slowly inching closer to a playoff spot.

Currently, Los Angeles sits at 12th in the Western Conference with a 29-32 record. However, they are just a game behind the 10th seed, where they would be a play-in team, and 2.5 games back from the 6th seed, where they would be an outright playoff team.

Should James miss some time, a lot of the Lakers' load will fall on the shoulders of Anthony Davis. The Lakers have also acquired some intriguing pieces that will help them in this playoff push.

It will be interesting to see if they can sustain the momentum even with The King on the sidelines.
