Milwaukee Bucks Stars Dominate in OT Win Over Boston Celtics

A depleted Boston Celtics squad took the Milwaukee Bucks to the absolute limit on Tuesday night, but the Bucks' star power prevailed. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday combined for 76 points in a 131-125 overtime win.
Both stars had long, punishing nights. Antetokounmpo toiled for 46 minutes to hit 12 of his 26 field goal attempts for 36 points, adding 13 rebounds, nine assists, two blocks, and an ugly eight turnovers. Holiday was more efficient in his 43 minutes, sinking an impressive 13 of his 21 field goal attempts (including eight of 12 from three) while totalling 40 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. If not for their perserverance, the Bucks could have lost to a Celtics squad that was without four of its five starters. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, and Marcus Smart all sat with injuries.

Last night's win was a big step forward for the Bucks in their mission to pass the Celtics in the standings, even if the victory rings a little hollow. Now at 40-17, the Bucks are only a half-game behind the 41-17 top-seeded Celtics in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks have won 11 straight, and they could easily snatch away home-field advantage over the closing stretch of the season. Unfortunately, they're unlikely to see such a talent-starved Celtics team in the playoffs.

The Bucks will attempt to keep their winning streak alive when they travel to Chicago to face the Bulls on Thursday night.
