New York Knicks Sign Wing Player

The New York Knicks had only 13 players on their roster for the past two weeks, and that's a no-no according to NBA rules which state that rosters must contain a minimum of 14 players (not including two-way contracts). Teams are allowed a 14-day leeway to be under the 14-man floor, but nothing longer. This necessitated a roster move today, and the Knicks have obliged.

The 6'5" shooting guard Trevor Keels was signed to a 10-day contract; he'd previously been with the team on a two-way. Keels got into just one game for the Knicks this season, played just one minute, and missed his only shot.

But in the G League, with the Westchester Knicks, Keels was averaging 14.9 points, 3.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 31.3 minutes in 17 games. He was last called up two weeks ago, but didn't play.

Keels was the Knicks' second-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, being selected with with the No. 42 pick out of Duke. The 19-year-old spent one year with the Blue Devils, averaging 11.5 points.
