Orlando Magic Cutting Ties With Former First-Runder

The Orlando Magic are loaded in the backcourt, with several promising young players who need their playing time. Unfortunately, 3rd-year guard RJ Hampton has been squeezed out, as he was waived on Tuesday.

Hampton was unable to find any real playing time in the jam-packed Magic backcourt this season, getting into just 26 games this season with Orlando, averaging 5.7 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 13.9 minutes.

Hampton was behind Markelle FultzCole AnthonyJalen Suggs, and Gary Harris in the rotation.

Throughout his 141 games over the past three years, he's averaged 7.0 points, 2.9 rebound and 2.0 assists in 18.8 minutes per contest.

Hampton, 22, was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 24th pick of the first round in the 2020 Draft. He still has some promise, and may be able to catch on with another team as a free agent.
