3-Team Deal Lands Matisse Thybulle Out West

The market was hot for a prime perimeter defender like Matisse Thybulle, and with him losing his rotation spot with head coach Doc Rivers, he was inevitably going to be on the move today. The Philadelphia 76ers are sending Thybulle to the Portland Trail Blazers.

According to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, it's all part of a three-way trade with the Charlotte Hornets as well, that lands Jalen McDaniels in Philly, and multiple second-round picks plus Svi Mykhailiuk in Charlotte.

Per Basketball Reference, Thybulle is the only NBA player to record at least 250 steals and 150 blocks since the 2020-21 season.

His minutes this season have been cut in half, down to just 12 per game, and his offensive game is minimal, but it's his defense on the perimeter that has been his hallmark.

Thybulle, 25, is only in his 4th NBA season, and has room to grow with the young and building Trail Blazers.

As noted by ESPN's front office insider Bobby Marks, Thybulle will be a restricted free agent after the season, as is McDaniels, a promising young forward in his 4th season. He's averaging a career-high 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds.
