Anthony Davis Dominates in Los Angeles Lakers Win Over Oklahoma City Thunder

The Los Angles Lakers picked up a much-needed win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, and they had their superstar big man to thank. Anthony Davis crushed all challengers, piling up 37 points, 15 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in a 116-111 victory.

Davis hit 15 of his 21 field goal attempts and seven of his 11 free throws. It was his 17th 30+ point game of the season and 18th game with 15 or more rebounds. Davis has been absolutely overpowering in 48 appearances this season, averaging 26.1 points per game with personal bests in rebounds per game (12.5) and true shooting percentage (.628). Unfortunately, injuries remain an issue for the eight-time All-Star: 2021-22 will mark his third straight season with 25+ missed games.

The Lakers are 37-37 and eighth in the Western Conference. They're fighting for their lives in a densely-packed playoff race and doing it without leading scorer LeBron James. Davis has carried the load in James' absence, averaging 27.3 points per game and spurring the Lakers to an 8-5 record over their last 13 games. As ever, the Lakers' postseason hopes will depend on the health of their superstars. If James and Davis can stay on the court, the Lakers be an unwelcome matchup for any team.

The Lakers host the Chicago Bulls for the first game of a home-and-home on Sunday afternoon.
