Miami Heat Declare Kevin Love Out for Monday's Game Against Atlanta Hawks

The Miami Heat will be without one of their recent free-agent splashes for tonight's game against the Atlanta Hawks. The team officially downgraded Kevin Love to out with a rib contusion on the NBA Injury Report.

Love had appeared in six straight games since joining the Heat after the All-Star Break. Since being bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers, he has averaged 7.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game on approximately 22.5 minutes per game while starting at power forward for the Heat. His true shooting percentage remains troublingly low (.505).

Love fell out of the rotation in Cleveland, missing 12 straight games before eventually parting ways with the organization he won a championship with back in 2016. His level of play has not improved in any meaningful way since joining the Heat, but they're still banking on the fact he can at least provide veteran depth come playoff time. They're 34-31 and seventh in the Western Conference and still have time to claw their way out of the play-in tournament.

Love will have a chance to get back on the court against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.
