Shams Reveals Update On Anthony Edwards After Gruesome Ankle Injury

After spending the weekend in a walking boot following an ugly sprained ankle suffered on Friday night, it appears that Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is healing quickly.

"He's healing like a Wolverine! Because he was in a walking boot Friday and Saturday, then exited the boot after about 24 hours," reports NBA Insider Shams Charania.

"Right now the swelling is going down in his sprained ankle...I think there's optimism that he could be back on Wednesday from what I'm hearing.

"It was a tough-looking injury, but the Timberwolves are optimistic that this is not something that will keep him out for that long."

During Friday's night's game against the Chicago Bulls, Edwards was making a jump pass when he landed awkwardly and completely rolled his ankle.

It was undoubtedly as painful as it looked. But it appears that the Wolves won't be without Ant-man for long.

The team is still without Karl-Anthony Towns—51 games and counting—though there seems to be some optimism that he could be back sometime around the end of the regular season. Minnesota is currently in a virtual three-way tie for 9th through 11th in the Western Conference heading into games Monday night, so they can ill-afford to be without Edwards—their leading scorer—for long.

Ant-man is averaging 24.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
