Dallas Mavericks Sign Former No. 5 Overall Pick

He was the No. 5 overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the 2014 NBA Draft. But he never came close to living up to those high expectations. Now, after two years out of the league, Dante Exum is back, officially signed on Friday by the Dallas Mavericks.

It's a two-year, $6.15 million deal for Exum, with his salary for the 2024-25 season non-guaranteed. His $3M salary this season is a piece of the Mavs' midlevel exception.

The Australian-born guard, now 28, was hampered by serious injuries throughout much of his six seasons in the NBA, and averaged 5.7 points and 2.1 assists with the Jazz and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Last season with Partizan he won an Adriatic League Championship, averaging 13.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 38 games. He's been shooting 42% in the EuroLeague over the last two years as well.
