Miami Heat Sign Former Celtics and Raptors Forward

Less than two weeks after being waived by the Boston Celtics, 6-foot-6 forward Justin Champagnie has signed on with the C's rivals, the Miami Heat.

It's an Exhibit 10 deal for Champagnie, who spent time last season with the Celtics, Toronto Raptors and the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

The 22-year-old out of Pitt had a nice G League season, where, in 23 regular season games with the Skyforce, he averaged 18.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 31.3 minutes while shooting 52% from the field.

In the NBA he played two games with Boston and three with Toronto. But he was a regular fringe player with the Raptors for 36 games the prior season, playing several games as a full-fledged member of the rotation, including posting a season-high plus-19 in a 24-minute effort against the Sacramento Kings in December. He put up 10 points and four rebounds in that game.

In addition to Champagnie, the Heat also announced the signing of Caleb Daniels to an Exhibit 10, bringing the preseason roster to a full complement of 21 players.
