Rockets’ Kevin Porter Jr. Arrested

The NBA is conducting an investigation of Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. after he was arrested on felony charges of assault and strangulation after an incident at a New York hotel.

Police were called to the scene at 6:45am Monday morning, in an incident involving Porter's girlfriend, a former WNBA player.

ESPN reports a police statement as saying, "Upon arrival officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain to her neck. A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck."

And while the Rockets are looking into the incident, they will not be able to slap Porter with any discipline at this point, as the NBA is conducting their own investigation, upon the conclusion of which they are certain to levy a suspension of some kind or other actions on Porter.

The 23-year-old has had a number of off-court issues in his short career, which led the Rockets to leave much of his four-year, $82.5 million contract extension non-guaranteed.
