Lakers Rumors: "A Sense of Inevitability” That L.A. Lands Big Trade Target

Dejounte Murray has been one of the big names out there on the rumor mill, and along the way, he's been consistently linked to the Los Angeles Lakers as one of his prime suitors. A report today from insider Sam Amick of The Athletic indicates that there's a "sense of inevitability" that Murray lands in L.A.

But first, it appears that the Lakers will need to send point guard D'Angelo Russell, who has been balling out lately, to a third team in exchange for an expiring contract that they could then send to the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta clearly has no appetite for D'Lo and the $18.6 million he's still owed for next season.

"The noise about Dejounte to the Lakers continues to be louder than any other landing spot... It's a matter of (Russell) and is there a 3rd team to take him?" said Amick on The Athletic NBA Show podcast.

"There's this sense of inevitability that Dejounte is going to have a Lakers jersey on."

He adds that Murray being a Klutch Sports client adds even more pressure on the two sides to get this done.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are also keeping one eye on another much sought-after deadline target as well, according to Insider Shams Charania.

“The Lakers, I’m told, are continuing to monitor two players,” Charania said on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back. “I think the two guys at the forefront of their targets list going into the trade deadline, Dejounte Murray of Atlanta, and Bruce Brown Jr. of Toronto.”

Just two weeks to go until February 8th.
