NBA Trade Rumors: Darius Garland Strongly Linked to Western Conf. Team
The trade talk surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers will not be going away anytime soon this summer, as we await word on what Donovan Mitchell has in mind for his future. Spida's decision on whether to sign an extension will have ramifications on the rest of the Cavs roster.
Case in point: Darius Garland. His agent has already said that he'll ask for a trade if/when Mitchell extends. He doesn't feel there's enough ball in a 48-minute game to fill both of their needs.
So Garland has become a prime trade candidate, and now we're hearing that the San Antonio Spurs would love to hook him up with Victor Wembanayama, and finally give the Rookie of the Year phenom a star point guard to work with.

Sam Amico of Hoops Hype reports that an NBA source tells him that the Spurs are “very interested” in trading for Garland. He adds that the San Antonio front office has conducted “strong” due diligence on the Cleveland star.
The Spurs spent parts of last season trying to play without a real point guard, even forcing power forward Jeremy Sochan into the role at times. Eventually, Tre Jones took the job, but the Spurs would love to have an All-Star like Garland in the backcourt to set things up for Wemby.
Garland averaged 18 points and 6.5 assists for the Cavaliers this season while shooting 37.1% from three-point range (career 38.4%). He also added 1.3 steals per game.
