Jaylen Brown Makes Bold Statement Before Celtics-Magic Playoff Series
The Boston Celtics are ready to tip off their playoff campaign, and so is their reigning Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown.
As the Celtics launch their title defense, concerns have lingered about Brown’s health. The star guard was instrumental in Boston’s 2024 championship run, often looking like their best player, and his peak performance will be crucial if the team hopes to repeat.
Brown has been managing a knee injury in recent weeks, even receiving injections to stay on the court. But with the postseason here, he’s brushing aside any injury-related chatter.
“I’m not here to discuss my knee,” Brown said. “It is what it is. My focus is on Orlando.”
“I’m not here to talk about my knee. It is what it is. I’m focused on Orlando,” said Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, who said he won’t have a minutes restriction.

According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, Brown also confirmed he isn’t on a minutes restriction—an encouraging sign for the Celtics as they prepare to open their playoff series against the Orlando Magic on Sunday afternoon.
As the East’s No. 2 seed, Boston is under heavy pressure to deliver. Falling short of the conference finals would be a major letdown, but making a deep run will likely require Brown at his best—especially in a potential showdown with the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers.
This season, Brown has posted averages of 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists across 63 games. Though ineligible for postseason awards, he remains an All-NBA-caliber player and earned his fourth career All-Star nod.
Alongside Jayson Tatum, Brown forms one of the league’s most formidable duos—a pairing that’s tough to stop in playoff basketball.
If his knee holds up close to full strength, the Celtics and their star guard should be in a strong position to contend.
