NBA Trade Rumors: Giannis Antetokounmpo Lands With Spurs in Blockbuster Trade Proposal
The Milwaukee Bucks have suffered another early playoff exit, and there's no doubt that Giannis Antetokounmpo is not happy about it. When he signed his big extension with the Bucks, he claimed that he wanted to compete for championships every year. Milwaukee has won one playoff series now in the last four years since their NBA title.
The Athletic has proposed this massive three-team blockbuster that would entail not one but two superstars changing hands:
Whatever package you think is rich enough to obtain Giannis Antetokounmpo, it will need to be much larger.

But if he ends up on the trade market, he’ll have no shortage of suitors.
One potential deal to explore? A three-team trade with the Bucks, Spurs and Pelicans 👀 pic.twitter.com/Q71AymEQ2r
San Antonio Spurs receive:
- Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks receive:
- Zion Williamson
- Keldon Johnson
- 2025 first-round pick
- 2027 first-round pick swap
- 2029 first-round pick
New Orleans Pelicans receive:
- Devin Vassell
- Pat Connaughton
- 2027 first round pick
With this deal, the Bucks get themselves a superstar back in return for Giannis, albeit one, in Zion Williamson, that plays only about 40% of the time. To make up for that massive discrepancy, this hypothetical trade would also land Milwaukee another 20+ point per game scorer in Johnson and a whack of first-round pick assets.
Johnson averaged 22 points as recently as the 2022-23 season. But with the arrival of Victor Wembanyama, Johnson's impact and minutes have plummeted to the point that he averaged a career low 12.7 PPG this past season.
With a bigger role and more usage on the offensive end in Milwaukee, he could potentially get back to that elite scoring level. He's only 25.
The Pelicans, who have grown tired of waiting on Zion to be healthy enough to play year after year, would get to move on and put the ball in Vassell's hands, another exciting young scorer who came very close to the 20 PPG level in the previous two seasons before this one.
Could Giannis Antetokounmpo join Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio?
And the Spurs? In this proposed dream scenario, they would get to run with the longest, most freakishly talented duo in the history of the NBA in Giannis & Wemby. It would be must-see TV every time they took the floor together.
