NBA Trade Rumors: Kevin Durant Reunites With Kyrie Irving in Proposed Summer Blockbuster

There's been a lot of talk about where Kevin Durant will end up next season, after it was reported by Shams Charania that he and the Phoenix Suns will "work together" to find a trade. Many potential landing spots have been floated, including mutual interest said to exist between him and the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and three others.

But one team we haven't heard connected to KD a lot, and one that makes sense, is the Dallas Mavericks. Durant would get to be reunited with his old pal Kyrie Irving.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently proposed the following deal that could get it done:

Dallas Mavericks receive

  • Kevin Durant

Phoenix Suns receive

  • Klay Thompson
  • P.J. Washington
  • Jaden Hardy
  • two first-round picks

For the Mavericks, they'll actually be without Kyrie until at least midseason, likely, as he recovers from a torn ACL, so Durant will be able to pick up the offense, along with Anthony Davis (assuming both of them are healthy, which is a big assumption). But once they're all good to go, that's a Big 3 that complement each other, that would be tough to beat.

Mavericks need another big star to replace Doncic

Certainly, GM Nico Harrison needs to bring in a big-name franchise-type piece to appease the angry masses after he stunningly traded away Luka Doncic this season.

As for the Suns, this deal seems a bit light on the immediate return, but Klay and Washington could provide immediate dividends to put around Devin Booker, Thompson with offense from the perimeter, and PJ on the defensive side of the ball. The two first-rounders are some protection for the future for Phoenix.

We're sure to hear many more Durant trade options before camp opens next fall, but for Dallas, this one certainly makes a lot of sense.
