Suns Lowering The Price on Kevin Durant, Pushing Him 'Aggressively' on One Team

The Kevin Durant trade talks are apparently heating up, as the Suns lower their asking price

The Kevin Durant trade talks are apparently heating up, and all it took was for the Phoenix Suns to reportedly lower the asking price on the frequently-injured star who'll be entering his age-37 season. In addition, they're aggressively pushing him on the Houston Rockets.

Kelly Iko writes in The Athletic that the Suns have been targeting the Rockets in getting a Durant trade done.

“Phoenix is aggressive in pursuit of a) trading Kevin Durant and b) regaining full control of their draft capital starting with the No. 10 pick in next month’s draft, team sources said.

Suns have called the Rockets several times, and lowered their asking price for Durant

"Since the conclusion of the season, Houston has fielded several calls from Phoenix, who have since gradually lowered their asking price for Durant, those sources said. There is a price where the Rockets would be interested, but with a fear of breaking up their roster for a 36-year-old coming off injury, doubt remains over a deal materializing,” concludes Iko.

The 15-time All-Star has two championships on his resume, but they came with a superstar-laden team around him, with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors. The Rockets, who finished second in the Western Conference with a 52-30 record this season, are not inclined to move on from their great young core of Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and potentially Jalen Green (though he could be one to go in the right deal).

Durant and the Suns are determined to find a new home for him after things went sour this past season, and the team blindsided him by trying to deal him at the trade deadline.

And the Rockets, for their part, are anxious to add a star that can help take them to the next level. They bowed out in the first round of the playoffs after their excellent regular season.
