Top 3 NBA Teams That Won The Offseason
With training camp nearly upon us, ESPN decided to take a poll of coaches, scouts, and executives around the NBA to find out which teams they thought had the best (and worst) offseasons.
We'll start with the cream of the crop. Here are the Top 3 NBA Teams That Won The Offseason:
Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks were easily the top choice here, with 7 votes.
Atlanta added a championship center in Kristaps Porzingis, a back-to-back Finalist and true 3-and-D threat in Nickiel Alexander-Walker, and basically, a potential return to relevancy. Surrounding Trae Young with more talent should allow him to have an even better year than the one in which he just led the NBA in assists at 11.6 per game, along with 24.2 ppg, and a 4th-place finish in Clutch POY voting.
Denver Nuggets
With four votes, the Nuggets were the runners-up in this category. Execs were impressed with their additions of Cameron Johnson at the forward spot and Jonas Valanciunas to be the first truly legit backup to Jokic that they've had at the center spot. The Nuggets also brought in some winning vibes, by reuniting with one of their championship sparks from 2023, Bruce Brown.
Houston Rockets
Anytime you can add a player like Kevin Durant, it has to be considered a win, right? That's what the voters figured for the Rockets, who got KD in a massive 7-team trade back in June. They also brought in legit 3-and-D force Dorian Finney-Smith. Those moves were enough to grant the Rockets three votes in the Who Won The Offseason balloting.
Unfortunately, the Rockets also learned on Monday that the offseason has dealt them a devastating blow to their starting lineup.
