Breaking: Mark Cuban Makes Big Announcement on Anthony Davis Trade

With the firing of general manager Nico Harrison, former owner Mark Cuban has inserted himself back into a decision-making role with the Dallas Mavericks, and Cuban has today made a big pronouncement on the rumored potential trade of Anthony Davis: It ain't happening.

“We won’t (trade him). We want to try to win,” said Cuban in a released statement.

Reports are emerging that Cuban orchestrated a power struggle to oust Harrison and regain influence with new team governor Patrick Dumont.

"Mark's been trying a palace coup for months," one team source told ESPN. The moves come after Harrison's disastrous franchise-altering, ground-shaking trade last season of Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers.

Davis, the former All-Star center who was the main return in the deal, has spent most of his time since coming to Dallas on the injured list. This, of course, should not be a surprise to anyone who follows the game of basketball. But Harrison apparently didn't get the memo. Now, he's out of a job. And Cuban is back in the inner circle.

He now serves on Dumont's "basketball committee" along with coach Jason Kidd and assistant GMs Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi.

"He's a consultant, not a decision-maker," a source said. "But he's at the table."

The Mavs are 4-11, and second-to-last in offense this season.

The AD trade rumors began last month, but Cuban is attempting to shut them down now for good with his latest pronouncement. Davis is currently out (surprise, surprise) for an extended period with a left calf strain.
