Clippers Make Shocking Move With Chris Paul
Stunning development with the Clippers sending franchise legend Chris Paul home tonight. Obviously he’s been in and out of Tyronn Lue’s rotation this year. But sending any player home, let alone a player of Paul’s stature in the league and with the franchise, is quite a move. pic.twitter.com/qVncMQq3st

CP3 was a franchise legend in LA, and had returned to the Clippers this season in what is his NBA farewell tour. It was supposed to be a fond farewell. To be treated this way is beyond belief.
Paul has not been a fixture in the Clippers' lineup this season, but that was never really intended to be the case. But seeing him play just 14 minutes a game, less than half of what he played last season in San Antonio, and averaging just 2.9 points, was already looking like a sad way for the 40-year-old to go out.
But now, this?
There are already calls around the league for the Oklahoma City Thunder to pick him up, the city where he started his career, winning Rookie of the Year in 2006, and the Thunder team with which he enjoyed a career renaissance in 2019-20, and helped mentor a young Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is now the reigning MVP and World Champion.
Chris Paul deserves a happy ending. There would be no better place than to do it where his career began, alongside his protege, with a chance to go out a champion. pic.twitter.com/FaTkylceJx

It would be so fitting to see CP3 return to OKC and get his first ring in his final season.
Paul is in his 21st NBA season, with averages of 16.8 points, 9.2 assists, 2.0 steals and 37% from three-point land. He helped define the Clippers' Lob City Era with Blake Griffin back in the mid-2010s for six years.
