NBA Trade Rumor: Darius Garland Linked to Western Conf. Team

The Sacramento Kings just can't stop making the rounds on the rumor mill this season. They've been linked to a number of players around the league, and nearly all of their roster has been linked to potential trades.

The latest comes to us from Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal. In the Kings' never-ending search to replenish their point guard position, they're now hot to trot for Cleveland Cavaliers star Darius Garland.

“The Sacramento Kings have kept an eye on Garland’s situation as they remain motivated to find a long-term answer at point guard following De’Aaron Fox‘s departure."

Fox was traded by the Kings at last season's deadline, when it was clear he wanted out. Prior to that, in 2022, they traded soon-to-be superstar Tyrese Haliburton in a blockbuster deal for center Domantas Sabonis. Sacramento has been looking to shore up their lead guard spot even since Fox left.

The Kings looking to move on from aging backcourt

They signed Dennis Schroder in the offseason, and Russell Westbrook after the campaign got underway, and with the Kings wallowing around at 7-22, second-last in the West, it's clear how that's all worked out for them.

Somehow, potential suitors for Garland continue to come up like this, despite the fact that Cleveland has given no indication that they have any designs whatsoever on trading him.

Garland, 26, is a two-time All-Star, with career marks of 18.8 ppg, 6.7 assists and a 38.5% shooting mark from long distance.
