NBA Trade Rumor: Ja Morant Heads to Miami Heat In Proposed Marquee Deal

The Miami Heat are in desperate need of a boost if they are going to make a playoff run. Currently on a five-game losing streak, and sitting in the 9-seed in the East, the Heat need more scoring. Certainly, having Tyler Herro back on a regular basis would help—he's only played six games this season due to injuries.

But even with the heroics of Herro, the Heat still don't have enough to make a serious playoff run in the post-Jimmy Butler era. They've been on the lookout for a superstar addition, with names like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Ja Morant being floated.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report has proposed a deal that would bring the beleaguered Memphis Grizzlies guard to South Beach:

Miami Heat receive:

  • Ja Morant

Memphis Grizzlies receive:
  • Tyler Herro
  • Nikola Jovic

The Heat are in need of a legit point guard and a dynamic scorer, and Morant would obviously fit the bill. Maybe the so-called 'Heat Culture' can even bring him in line, and make him grow up as a person. Morant's antics, which have included gun-related incidents and blow-ups with coaches, have led to suspensions.
But if he stays on the court and harnesses his explosive talent, he could help take the Heat to another level.

As for the Grizzlies, they get to reset their own culture, and get the controversy that always seems to hang over them out of the locker room. They get an uber-talented scorer back in Herro, who, once he gets back to full health, can return to being a 23 ppg scorer and near-40% three-point shooter. He can come close to suppling the offense that Morant once did.
And in Jovic, they get a promsing young player, who has the size (6'10") and exciting 'point forward' skills—ballhandling, playmaking and shooting like a guard.

Who says no?
