Stunning New Team Considering Anthony Davis Trade
We've heard about the Toronto Raptors, the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks as possibilities for an Anthony Davis trade this season. But a stunning new team has potentially entered the fray: the Golden State Warriors.
If there's any team that could use a dominant big man like AD to take them to contending heights, it would be the Dubs. Insider Chris Haynes says they're considering it.

During an NBA on Prime segment, Haynes said:
“Today I found out something very interesting. I came on last week and I told you about what the Warriors are looking for: A big man. A rim-running big man. Protect the paint. Lob threat. I was told they are contemplating making a case to acquire Anthony Davis as well."
However, he also revealed a fly in the ointment of the Warriors' plans.
What could Warriors offer to Mavericks for Anthony Davis?
"With that being said, I was told Dallas is not that fascinated with what Golden State has on its books, and so if the Golden State Warriors did really want to make a true play at Anthony Davis, they would likely have to acquire some more assets or involve another team.”
In other words, Jonathan Kuminga and other stuff is not getting this done.
Davis could be had straight up for Jimmy Butler, as the two are making the same money ($54M). But it's unlikely the Warriors would want to do that, given Davis's extensive injury history, the legend of which grows by the day. He is now out once again for a couple of weeks with a groin injury, after having missed another 16 games earlier with a calf injury.
In his 11 months with the Dallas Mavericks, Davis has played a total of only 25 games. He was also injured before the end of his first game with the Mavs last season after the seismic Luka Doncic trade.
From the Warriors' standpoint, if they're still interested in AD, they'd have to look at landing another asset that Dallas desires, from, perhaps, a Kuminga trade elsewhere, to be in the conversation. Then they'd have to include Draymond Green's money to even begin to make a trade like that work.
This might be a pipe dream, but Haynes reiterates that Golden State is trying to figure out a way to land themselves a dominant center in order make "a championship push."
