Report: 'Most Likely' Giannis Antetokounmpo Traded This Summer—5 Teams Listed

So Giannis Antetokounmpo didn't get traded after all. The Milwaukee Bucks held on to their superstar... For now. But according to insider Jake Fischer, don't expect that situation to hold into the 2026-27 season.

On the Stein Line report, Fischer reported:

League sources... continue to indicate, loud and clear, that the Bucks did entertain and discuss Giannis trade frameworks like never before during the final week leading up to the Feb. 5 trade buzzer...

(Several teams) continue to believe (that a trade) will finally happen during the looming offseason.

Four sources close to the situation... have all maintained that a move to a true title contender is the most likely endgame for the 31-year-old.

Giannis had one foot in and one foot out of Milwaukee all season long, as rumors reached a fever pitch a few days before the trade deadline earlier this month that he was finally open to a move.

Nothing went down, but contending teams made big pushes.

Fischer then went on to name the five teams that would likely be the top suitors for the Greek Freak this summer:

  • Miami Heat
  • Los Angeles Lakers
  • San Antonio Spurs
  • Houston Rockets
  • Brooklyn Nets

Granted, the Nets don't exactly fit into the "true title contender" category, but nevertheless, Fischer explained:

"Miami will have more draft capital available to make a stronger proposal.

"As Marc Stein wrote here Feb. 4, significant summer salary cap space is expected to make the Lakers a viable suitor in the Giannis Sweepstakes.

"I also continue to hear rival teams musing aloud about Brooklyn's potential emergence as a credible destination given the Nets' considerable cache of draft capital to package with, say, Michael Porter Jr. … or with a trade construction that keeps MPJ in place to play alongside Antetokounmpo.

"It remains to be seen, furthermore, what happens in the playoffs with teams like San Antonio and Houston. Perhaps a team that wasn't pursuing Antetokounmpo this winter will have a higher level of interest after a playoff disappointment yet to unfold."

Once again, Giannis will be the talk of the NBA offseason.
