Top Free Agent Cam Thomas Chooses New Team

Top buyout market target Cam Thomas has quickly chosen his new destination, as the new free agent has signed a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The contract runs for the rest of the 2025-26 season.

Thomas had signed a one-year, $5.9 million qualifying offer with the Brooklyn Nets over the summer as a restricted free agent, but it was obvious he was headed to the open market in July, so the Bucks decided to simply buy him out right after this past week's trade deadline in an obvious effort to improve their chances of tanking.

Several teams were said to be interested in the high-volume scorer, but the Bucks, intending to give Giannis Antetokounmpo some help in likely one last push in Milwaukee, won the right to sign Thomas.

Cam Thomas explains why he chose the Milwaukee Bucks

"I picked Milwaukee because they wanted me and they told me they've been interested for years now. So, it's good to have this opportunity come to fruition. And I'm just hoping to meet everybody, get to know everybody and contribute as soon as possible," Thomas said, per Andscape.

The Bucks are currently 21-29, the 12-seed in the Eastern Conference, two games back of the last Play-In spot. They've struggled all season—with and without the Greek Freak in the lineup. He's out for a few more weeks with a calf strain.

The 24-year-old Thomas has averaged 21.4 points per game over the last three seasons with the Nets, but has been limited by injuries the last two years, playing just 24 games this season and only 25 last year.

Certainly, the explosive scorer will take some of the offensive pressure off Giannis, but whether he really moves the needle or not for the team in chasing a playoff spot is still in question.
