5 Landing Spots for Ja Morant If Grizzlies... Pull Trigger on Trade This Offseason

The Memphis Grizzlies seem to want to be out of the Ja Morant business. His act has worn very thin, on and off the court, and he hasn't even suited up since Jan. 21st due to an elbow injury. He's also gotten into a... disagreement with his head coach, sat out a suspension, and, well, just worn out his welcome, from all accounts.

His previous multiple suspensions for gun-related incidents leave an ugly mark on his time in Memphis, and teams will have to think hard about bringing him into their culture. And yet, his explosiveness and marquee player abilities will still make him a sought-after commodity.

With that, Sam Amico of Hoops Wire has suggested five landing spots that make sense if the Grizzlies finally... uh... pull the trigger on a Ja Morant trade.

Milwaukee Bucks

While Giannis was still on good terms with the Bucks back at the trade deadline, Milwaukee poked around on the idea of potentially bringing in Morant for their latest attempt at bringing the Greek Freak a co-star.

Miami Heat

Pat Riley doesn't like his teams to be superstar-free. Ever since Jimmy Butler was dealt at the 2025 trade deadline, the Heat have been searching for a dynamic star they can bring in next. Morant would be a classic Miami Heat addition.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets made a big swing last summer, pulling off a blockbuster for Kevin Durant. So far, it hasn't worked to take them to that next contention level. They could try to hit another home run this offseason. And as Amico notes, "The Rockets have the assets" to get a deal done for Morant.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Another Western Conference team with designs on competing for a title, the T-Wolves could use another big scorer to take the heat off Anthony Edwards. That would create a backcourt that's "as explosive as it gets," writes Amico.

Sacramento Kings

This one might make the most sense. The Kings have been starving for a star point guard ever since trading away two of the very best in the league over the past few years in De'Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. Unlike pairings with Giannis or KD or Ant, Morant would be the undisputed star of the show in SacTown, and we kinda think he likes it that way.
