3 Golden State Warriors Who Won't Return in 2026-27

To say the least, it was a disappointing season, with an even worse finish, for the Golden State Warriors. Without a drastic retool this offseason, it feels like it's finally the end of an era.

The Dubs will try their best to make one more run with the legendary Steph Curry, but short of landing a Giannis Antetokounmpo or other superstar, it feels like Father Time has caught up to this team.

With that, we take a look at three Warriors who almost certainly won't be back for the 2026-27 season.

Steve Kerr, head coach

We'll start with Kerr, who was "50-50" on returning as it was. Then we got this from Draymond Green on Monday, who figures Kerr is done:

"I hope he's our coach next season," Green said on his podcast.  "You want my opinion? I think not. Just because it feels like that. It felt like that was it."

It could be from the way that Kerr said to Draymond and Steph after their 15-point loss to the Phoenix Suns in the Play-In, "I don't know what's going to happen next, but I love you guys to death. Thank you."

Or it could be because the coach himself dropped a huge hint to the media: "These jobs all have an expiration date. There is a run that happens, and when the run ends, sometimes it's time for new blood and new ideas."

Kristaps Porzingis

Porzingis is a free agent this summer. Whether he wants to come back, or whether the Warriors want him back (at a highly-reduced price), is still to be seen. The oft-injured center left it very much in doubt that he'd be back in Golden State, with these comments on Sunday:

“As I said before, I haven’t had a good year. If I had a good year, I think I’d have a more clear picture of what I want to doBecause I’ve had an up-and-down year like this, this is an offseason in my career that I think I’m just going to take a step back, look at the whole picture and then see what’s the best direction for me.”

Seth Curry

The journeyman shooting guard joined forces with his more famous brother for the first time in their careers. But it didn't go so well for Seth. The sharpshooter played just 10 games for the Warriors, averaging seven points in 13 minutes a night. At 35, there's even a chance he could retire.
