NBA Trade Rumors: New 3-Team Blockbuster Deal Sends Giannis to Miami

The Miami Heat remain the favorites to win the Giannis Antetokounmpo Sweepstakes. But it also remains true that the Milwaukee Bucks do not want to take back Tyler Herro and his $33M contract for next season.

So a third team will be necessary to get something done, and the latest one to enter the fray is the Memphis Grizzlies, per this blockbuster proposal from Evan Sidery:

Miami Heat receive
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • Bobby Portis (on a TPE)

Milwaukee Bucks receive

  • Ja Morant (from Grizzlies)
  • Kel’el Ware (from Heat)
  • Jaime Jaquez Jr. (from Heat)
  • Pelle Larsson (from Heat)
  • 2026 First Rounder (No. 13 from Heat)
  • 2031 First Rounder
  • 2033 First Rounder

Memphis Grizzlies receive
  • Tyler Herro
  • Nikola Jovic

The Miami Heat would give up a haul, but they would get the superstar they've been longing for in Giannis, as well as another former champion in Bobby Portis. He's been a tremendous big man rotation piece and floor spacer for many years.

Why the Bucks would make this deal

The Bucks get a massive reset, both for the present and future. Ja Morant could be the new star in Milwaukee, and their future would be looking good with the rising young star center in Ware and two other great pieces in Jaquez Jr. and Larsson, along with a boatload of first-round draft capital.

Why the Grizzlies would take part in this 3-team Giannis deal

The Grizzlies would get to move off of Morant, as a divorce has been in the offing for some time now. They get a young talent who still has room to grow in Nikola Jovic. And in Herro, they would get a guard who can score 20+ points a game, but also one who will be on an expiring contract. They could even potentially try to flip him for more assets.

The Giannis trade rumors are going to continue to flow for the next 10 days, leading up to the Draft.
