Report: ‘Several Desperate Teams’ at Top of Ja Morant Trade Sweepstakes

This season went off the rails early in Memphis, and Ja Morant is among those that are none too pleased with the way things went.

In particular, the suspension that he received for a 'disagreement' with his head coach is still sticking in his craw. Morant has told anyone who'll listen that he is DONE with the Grizzlies, and wants to move on.

Certainly, the Grizz at least tried to make that a reality at the trade deadline, but couldn't find a taker.

According to an ESPN report, “Morant still hasn't gotten over the suspension, multiple league sources said, because he felt alienated by teammates, who were told to leave the star guard alone so he could work through the issues that had led to the suspension. In the aftermath, Morant told players around the league and some of his former coaches that he isn't playing for Memphis anymore, sources said.”

Memphis is expected to pick up trade talks on Morant this offseason, and according to Tim MacMahon, there will be "several desperate teams" willing to take Morant on.

Between the years of injuries, multiple suspensions for on- and off-court conduct, and a less-than-stellar attitude, Morant doesn't exactly bring a pristine background to any team. But he definitely brings a ton of explosive talent. Some teams love the "star power" and will be glad to take a chance on him.

We'd suggest that the Grizz start their search in South Beach, where Pat Riley is always craving a superstar, and the team reportedly has that much-talked-about 'Heat culture' that could—maybe, potentially—keep Ja in line.

We'll have to see how this situation unfolds this offseason.
