Shocking Rumors On Anthony Davis's Future

For the longest time now, we've been hearing that Anthony Davis would not be staying in Washington. Might not even play a game for them (he hasn't as of yet, sitting out the last three months of the season). He might try to get himself flipped elsewhere, to a team that's in contention, went the rumors.

But lo and behold, an interview on Thursday tells us that AD may just be with the Wizards for the long haul.

Reports say that multiple teams have been checking in on his Davis's availability but no trade is forthcoming.

"He understands what we're trying to do organizationallly. He's communicated to me a strong interest in being part of what we're building," said Monumental Basketball President Michael Winger.

"He, like the rest of us, wants to be on a really good basketball team and compete for something big. That's our aim. That's what we wanna do, and I'm delighted that Anthony's here for that."

So far, all AD has been there for is rehabbing a torn ligament in his hand suffered while still with the Dallas Mavericks, before the trade that brought him to the Nation's Capital.

Davis can opt out of Wizards contract after the coming season

Davis will make $58.5 million next season, and he has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season.

He played all of 20 games in 2025-26 averaging 20.4 points per game, and 11.4 boards.

He owns career marks of 24.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 blocks per game. The Chicago native has made five All-NBA teams and five All-Defensive teams.

Davis, 33, and fellow multi-time All-Star Trae Young (once he signs a rich, new extension after opting out) are set to join a very young and exciting core with the Wizards, which includes Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Bilal CoulibalyBub Carrington and, as of the NBA Draft next week, they should be adding AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 overall pick.
