Insider Says Clippers Considering Something 'Drastic' In Kawhi Raptors Trade Delay

Another day, another Kawhi Leonard and Clippers rumor. And this one is sounding more ominous for the Toronto Raptors and the pending trade that's been on hold for couple of months.

It was thought that the resolution of the cap circumvention scandal with last week's punishments imposed by the NBA would free up the trade to go through.

But Insider Marc Stein suggests that the Clippers are holding off on the trade and perhaps even “considering something even more drastic” to spite Kawhi Leonard. He got off almost scot-free (a $700K fine) while the Clippers were hammered with a $30M fine, five lost first-round picks, and major suspensions for owner Steve Ballmer and front office head Lawrence Frank.
One wonders, however, if the Clippers would be cutting off their nose to spite their face.

As Raptors reporter Josh Lewenberg notes, the Clippers would be getting some first-round pick capital back, which they are desperately in need of after the league's penalties, and the Raptors supposedly "did them a solid by pausing the trade", he said.

But, hey, they are the Clippers, and, as Lewenberg notes, "wouldn’t put anything past them at this point."

Kawhi has been practicing with the Raptors at a minicamp in Miami, while Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick have been working out at the Clippers facility in LA.

This ugly situation could get even darker before it's done.
