Jalen Duren's Next Move With Pistons Is 'Up in the Air'

The Detroit Pistons have upped their offer to restricted free agent Jalen Duren. Now at $200 million over five years. That is exactly what he was asking for, at the minimum. But according to insider Shams Charania, that STILL might not be enough to re-sign him.

Shams update on Jalen Duren:

"The Pistons and Jalen Duren are at an impasse and it's highly up in the air and questionable as to whether he will be reporting and showing up (at training camp) for Media Day in just 7 days...

"Over the course of this offseason, his offer from the Pistons has been around the $180M to $190M over five years range. And that has also included incentives like weight clauses, to my understanding. And that has all played a part in this as well. And over the last several weeks, it's been kind of quiet on this front. The sides have picked up communication. And I am told right now the Pistons' offer to Jalen Duren is $200M over 5 years."

But he says there's still no deal. 

Duren must choose between that and the $9.6M qualifying offer, which would be for one year and make him an unrestricted free agent at season's end. He could go wherever he wanted at that point.

Duren has felt "disrespected" by Detroit's offers this offseason (and who wouldn't if they were offered only $190M??), so it remains to be seen if he wants to patch this up at all.
