Recent 24 PPG Scorer May Have To Head Overseas As NBA Interest Dries Up

According to many around basketball, there's a chance Thomas could (and should) consider a trip overseas to try to win back some interest in the NBA.
Last summer, Thomas and the Nets haggled over an extension when he was a restricted free agent, and he declined Brooklyn's offers of either two years, $30 million with a team option for the second season, or one year, $9.5 million with incentives up to $11 million.
He decided to take the one-year, $6 million qualifying offer instead, making him a full UFA this offseason. It was a potential $24M gamble that didn't pay off.
Thomas averaged 24.0 points, 3.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 31.2 minutes per game in the 2024-25 season, but was only able to play in 25 games due to hamstring injuries.
Last year, he was waived by the Nets after 24 games, then signed with and was subsequently waived again by the Milwaukee Bucks. In 42 combined games, he averaged 13.5 PPG, while playing an average of only 21 minutes a night.
It's clear that teams are hesitant to invest in a volume scorer whose defensive liabilities, high turnover rates, and struggles with passing make him a less-than-ideal team player.
