Scottie Pippen's Upcoming Book Appears To Take Jabs At Michael Jordan

Six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen will be shedding light on his side of the illustrious Bulls dynasty story. The tell-all memoir titled, "UNGUARDED," will delve into the minutia of Pippen's life, but what caught most people's attention is the not-so-subtle shade he threw at former teammate Michael Jordan.

The description of the book reads that there "are no championship banners" without Pippen, but goes on to mention how there would also be no Jordan as we know him today, nor would there be a 90s Chicago juggernaut. Moreover, the book promises to delineate what it was like working alongside Jordan on a daily basis, as well as why the seven-time All-Star was the real leader of the dynasty.
Simply put, without Pippen, there are no championship banners—let alone six—hanging from the United Center rafters, the description reads. There’s no Last Dance documentary. There’s no “Michael Jordan” as we know him. The 1990s Chicago Bulls teams would not exist as we know them, the description of "UNGUARDED" reads.
Pippen reveals never-before-told stories about some of the most famous games in league history, including the 1994 playoff game against the New York Knicks when he took himself out with 1.8 seconds to go. He discusses what it was like dealing with Jordan on a day-to-day basis, while serving as the real leader within the Bulls locker room.

Pippen has repudiated the manner in which "The Last Dance" portrayed the story of the Bulls' title run throughout the 1990s. The Hall of Famer was blatantly depicted as Jordan's sidekick, a title that the description of "UNGUARDED" says he "cringed" at.

I didn’t think those things stood out in the documentary. I thought it was more about Michael trying to uplift himself and to be glorified. I think it also backfired to some degree in that people got a chance to see what kind of personality Michael had, Pippen told The Guardian in 2020 regarding "The Last Dance."

The book will also cover his childhood in Arkansas, the 1987 draft, as well as raw stories regarding his relationship with Phil Jackson, Isiah Thomas and others.

"UNGUARDED" will release on November 16 and is available for pre-order now.
