Los Angeles Lakers Sign Carmelo Anthony

There were many teams in on Carmelo Anthony, but he has now chosen his new home. The veteran has signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. It was well-documented that they were interested in him, so this does make sense. He will be joining forces with his longtime friend, LeBron James.

Even at 37-years-old, Anthony is still a productive scorer at the NBA level, so this is a real win for Los Angeles. In 69 games this season with the Portland Trail Blazers, he averaged 13.4 PPG to go along with 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Keep in mind, he primarily came off the bench with Portland, too.

This is the third big-name veteran that the Lakers have signed this off-season. Just yesterday, they brought back Dwight Howard on a one-year deal. They also of course traded for Russell Westbrook recently, too. It is clear that they are valuing overall experience going into next season, as they hope to win another championship. Anthony sure wants that to happen, too, as he has yet to win a title himself.

Nonetheless, Anthony is a very solid pickup for the Lakers and should work out nicely for them.
