NBA Rumors: Jerami Grant in High Demand; 2 Teams Top List of Suitors

He may be out for about six weeks with a torn ligament in his thumb, but that hasn't stopped the Detroit Pistons' Jerami Grant from being in heavy demand on the trade market, according to a report from The Athletic.

The source names the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers as the two teams that are in pursuit of Grant. According to Shams Charania, Grant's thumb injury is not expected to dampen his trade market, and he is one of the league's "most sought-after players" in potential trades.

Grant has one more year remaining (after his one) on his contract, which pays him $20M annually, and is eligible, per the report, to an extension this offseason worth as much as $122M.

The 27-year-old forward was a finalist for the NBA's Most Improved Player last season, and this year was averaging 20 points and 4.8 rebounds before suffering the thumb injury this past Friday.

The Pistons are a dreadful 4-22 on the season, having lost 12 in a row, and would do well to get a nice haul for Grant.
