Mavericks Center Staying Put

The Dallas Mavericks have decided to keep Moses Brown on the roster. With this, his $1.7 million salary becomes guaranteed on Friday because the team has opted against waiving him.

Firday was the deadline for Dallas to make their decision about Brown's salary becoming guaranteed. This may be surprising to some basketball fans, as he has received very little playing time year. In 22 games with the Mavericks, he's averaged just 6.7 minutes per game. When on the court, he also has averaged 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds.

For a 22-year-old, Moses does have a decent chunk of NBA experience under his belt. In 74 career games between the Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Mavericks, he has averaged 6.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 0.1 assists. With the Thunder, however, he had a prominent role, as he started in 32 of his 43 games with the team last season.

Perhaps we could see the Mavericks decide to utilize the 7-foot-2 center a bit more from here. When seeing as how he is still very young, he also has room for growth. Perhaps this played a role in Dallas' decision.
