NBA Rumors: Wizards Consider Trade of Key Player

It was only this past offseason that the Washington Wizards rigorously courted, and then landed in a sign-and-trade—via a 3-year, $62M contract—their new point guard, Spencer Dinwiddie. Now, just five months later, rumors are circulating that the Wizards are dangling him in advance of the Feb. 10th trade deadline.

That's the word from Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. He says the Wizards are open to dealing Dinwiddie, due to the fact that he "hasn't quite meshed with (Bradley) Beal."

And what's more, Pincus suggests that the Wiz are hot on the trail of the prize of this year's trade deadline, Jerami Grant.

Several competing executives believe the Wizards are leading the chase for Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons, who soon could be back from his thumb injury.

He suggests that the Wizards have an excess of depth on the roster, and using some peripheral players to help bring in another star might enhance Beal's chances of choosing to re-sign this summer.

The names Rui Hachimura, Deni Avdija, and Montrezl Harrell are noted as other players the Pistons could have interest in.

It's questionable if any of that would get it done for Grant, however, as we reported on Monday that Detroit has set a high price for their leading scorer, and have their eyes on two players in particular
