Anthony Davis Suffers Gruesome-Looking Ankle Injury

Los Angeles Lakers fans are used to the sight by now... Anthony Davis on the court writhing in pain. Wednesday night it was an ankle injury, and it looked gruesome.

Davis came down on the side of Rudy Gobert's foot, to calls of "Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh... Down AD, again" on the Lakers broadcast. Davis was pounding his hand on the floor in pain.

LeBron James' response to the injury: "Obviously I'm sickened to see AD go down in that fashion. ... I've seen it too many times, obviously."

He suffered "significant swelling" after the injury, according to ESPN. X-ray results came back negative for a break; the official word is an ankle sprain, and it's likely a significant one.

He'll be out for at least the next month.

Dr. Brian Sutterer, NBA injury expert, says we can't judge the severity just based on Davis's reaction:

Davis has appeared in only 37 of the Lakers' 58 games this season. He also missed over a month with a sprained MCL in his knee.
