DeMar DeRozan Breaks Wilt Chamberlain Record; Gets KD Shout Out

DeMar DeRozan is having his career year, and has been in the MVP conversation for most of the season. But how do you know you've really reached the pinnacle of the profession of being an NBA player? When you break previously untouchable Wilt Chamberlain records.

DeRozan made NBA history Wednesday night by notching his 7th consecutive game of 35+ points on 50% or better shooting, passing Wilt's record of six straight.

Here's how DeRozan's incredible streak has broken down over the last 7 games.

That's an average of 38.6 points on 61% shooting. Who says the mid-range game is a lost art?

The amazingness of DeMar hasn't escaped today's greats either. Kevin Durant gives him some love on Twitter:

"Thank you for setting a great example and playing the game with supreme skill @DeMar_DeRozan", tweeted KD Thursday morning.

And all the while, DeRozan is leading the Bulls to the best record in the Eastern Conference, and doing it with extended absences from key teammates Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso.

As usual, after setting the new mark, DeRozan remained his always-humble self.

An incredible and well-earned season for just about every NBA player's favorite player. Watch DeMar's 38-point performance to break Wilt's record:
