NBA Rumors: 3 Frontrunners For Jerami Grant

According to James L. Edwards III of The Athletic, the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and Washington Wizards are expressing the most interest in Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant.

Grant has been one of the most talked-about names in the rumor mill this deadline season and is expected to be moved. The Pistons are likely going to be trading multiple veterans, as they have a 12-41 record and should be open to bringing in as many draft picks as possible. With Grant having another very good season, now does seem like the right time to move him.

At this point of the campaign, the Wizards have a 24-28 record and are 11th in the Eastern Conference. They are still in the hunt for a playoff spot, however, as they only trail the Brooklyn Nets (7th place) and Boston Celtics (8th place) by 4.5 games. With that, Grant has another year on his contract after this one, so he would be more than a rental. Therefore, if they miss the postseason this season, there is still the chance to next year with him.

The Kings currently have a 20-35 record and have won only two out of their last 10 games. Therefore, if they were to acquire Grant, it feels like more of a long-term move for them. They are trying to make themselves a playoff team again and maybe bringing in a guy like Grant could help them a bit more on that front.

The Trail Blazers are 5.5 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eight-seed, so they aren't out of the race. However, they also already traded both Norman Powell and Robert Covington a few days ago. Therefore, we could see them back out of the sweepstakes, but at this juncture, they are reportedly still in them.
